Edna did not have to make a choice between seeing a doctor or buying food.Chrisla, a precious preschooler, and her mom, Edna, are new members of the CCH family. Chrisla enrolled at EMEVO School, a CCH partner school, just this month. As an EMEVO student, Chrisla recently received much needed medical care through CCH’s School-Based Medical Clinics. The clinics take healthcare to rural schools three times per year. Mobile Clinics make it possible for families to receive care without having to make sometimes impossible choices like deciding to pay for a motorcycle taxi to take their child to a doctor or buying food at the market. Chrisla looks up to her mom for love, support and a future. Edna counts on their participation at EMEVO School to make education – and now healthcare! – possible for her family. Your support of CCH makes the partnership between CCH and Chrisla’s school possible! Thank you!
We are pleased to report that after months of lockdown, protests and insecurity, things are starting to look up in Haiti. Schools and businesses around Jacmel have been open regularly since early December. CCH Clinics, programs and staff are back in full swing, and CCH mobile clinics have started up again, serving partner schools and communities. We’ve also recently welcomed volunteers back to Haiti! Our February blog has more first hand reflections from our Haitian leadership team on the trials of the past several months and the impacts they’ve seen. As we embark on 2020, we remain cautiously optimistic that the calm we are experiencing continues. We reached a wonderful milestone in January of one year with no new cholera causes in Haiti. The first teams returned to work alongside CCH after 4 long and quiet months! Partner school enrollment has increased following the lockdown. The need remains great, and there is much work to be done!
However, concerns around growing food scarcities and increased inflation remain; many worry that these two forces, alone, may wreak havoc on Haiti in 2020. We earnestly hope for lasting peace as we diligently prepare for the challenges ahead. Want to stay engaged and help? Consider the following:
- Please continue to pray for Haiti and for CCH’s ministries. Prayer is powerful.
- Follow us on Facebook for real-time updates from the ground, and feel free to comment on or share our posts – it’s wonderful encouragement to our staff and partners!
- Make a difference right here in the U.S. by attending, sponsoring or volunteering at our 7th Annual CCH Benefit coming up on March 28th in Leesburg, VA! We’d love to celebrate with you!
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions or need more information. We’re always happy to hear from you. THANK YOU for making this work possible and for walking with us, especially during these last few months.
